What is the best way of finding a good dentist in my area?

When you shift to a new area, the main task is to find a good dentist. Dentistry is not expensive…..neglect is! Dental problems are very common and can trouble people of any age. Finding a new dentist can be a cumbersome job. Sometimes, you may find yourself searching for dentist near me or best dentist near me which could be due to your existing dental problems like receding gums, enamel erosion, root infection, cracked or broken teeth, tooth sensitivity etc.

Things to consider while searching a dentist nearby:

1. Location: The easiest way of limiting your search is to find a local dentist which will help you avoid missing appointments

2. Experience: You’ll want to find someone who has years of experience in this field. Look for the dentist’s qualifications, certifications, expertise and see if he remains updated with the latest technology or not. Look for extra services which makes him different from other dentists.

3. Speciality: As you search for dentist near me, look at each professional’s speciality.

4. These can include:

  • Orthodontics
  • Aesthetic dentistry
  • Endodontic
  • Orthodontist
  • Periodontics
  • Prosthodontics etc.

Choose a dentist who knows how to deal with your dental concerns.

5. References: Reading references and reviews can help you find a dentist which other patients already trust. You can find reviews either on their website or Google My Business Listings too.

Home care remedies to follow during dental emergency situations:

1. Bleeding from Mouth: If you do not have the instructions, bite on gauze or a piece of clean cloth to control bleeding. If pressure does not resist the bleeding, try biting down on a wet tea bag for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Do not spit; avoid any form of tobacco, and using straws, which can make bleeding bad.

2. Tooth Ache:

  • Rinse with warm saltwater: Saltwater can prevent debris between your teeth, act as a disinfectant and prevent inflammation. Stir a ½ teaspoon of salt into a glass of warm water and rinse your mouth thoroughly.
  • Rinse with hydrogen peroxide:A hydrogen peroxide (3% solution) helps to reduce inflammation and pain. Mix the hydrogen peroxide with equal parts water and rinse properly. Avoid swallowing it.
  • Cold Compress: To treat swelling and pain, put a cold compress of ice wrapped in a towel to the aching area for 20-minute periods. Repeat every few hours.
  • Pain medications: Over-the-counter pain medications can reduce pain and inflammation.

3. Tooth Fractured or Knocked Out:

  • If you have got your tooth fractured or it’s knocked out from mouth due to a fall, accident or interpersonal violence place it in milk or neutral saline as soon as possible and visit the nearest Dentist or Oral surgeon.

4. Jaw Fracture:If you have got your jaw fractured which could have signs  like bleeding from the mouth, inability to close your jaws properly, or severe pain in the jaw after an accident or violence, bandage it and immediately search dentist near you and get it fixed as soon as possible to avoid further complications.

 5. Jaw Joint Dislocation: If you or someone near you is unable to close his/her mouth find and visit an Oral surgeon near you as soon as possible this could be jaw joint dislocation (TMJ Dislocation) where the lower jaw comes out of its place and gets stuck in a forward position. Most of the time this problem is easier to handle immediately when it occurs.
